consist in，consist of

在英語里，我們常會碰到這種現象，由于所用的介詞不同，其語意也就變得大不相同。例如，consist in表示“在于…”之意;consist of則表示“包含”，“由…組成”之意。前者說明一樣事物的性質，這種性質大都是抽象的、非物質的;后者則說明組成某一事物的部分，這些部分大都是具體的、物質的。例如：

Happiness consists in trying to do one’s duty，not in amassing wealth.

快樂的源泉在于盡義務，而不在于積聚財富。

The best remedy for tuberculosis consists in rest.

肺結核病的最好良藥就是休息。

The value of this teaching method consists in the interest it stimulates in the students.
