A Lane in the Rain
雨巷

Alone holding an oil-paper umbrella,
撐著油紙傘，
I wander along a long solitary lane in the rain,
獨自彷徨在悠長，悠長又寂寥的雨巷，
Hoping to encounter a girl like a bouquet of lilacs
我希望逢著一個丁香一樣的
Gnawed by anxiety and resentment.
結著愁怨的姑娘。
A girl
她是有
The color of lilacs,
丁香一樣的顏色，
The fragrance of lilacs,
丁香一樣的芬芳，
The worries of lilacs,
丁香一樣的憂愁，
Feeling melancholy in the rain,
在雨中哀怨，
Plaintive and hesitating.
哀怨又彷徨。
She wanders along the solitary lane in the rain,
她彷徨在這寂寥的雨巷，
Holding an oil-paper umbrella
撐著油紙傘
Just as I do,
象我一樣，
Just like me,
象我一樣地
Walking slowly in silence,
默默行著，
Aloof, sad and melancholy.
冷漠，凄涼，又惆悵。
Silently she comes closer,
她默默地走近，
Closer, giving me a glance like a sigh;
走近，又投出，太息一樣的眼光，
Then she floats past like a dream,
她飄過，象夢一般地，
Dreary and blank like a dream.
像夢一般地凄婉迷茫。
Like a lilac
象夢中飄過
Floating past in a dream,
一支丁香地，
the girl floats past me;
我身旁飄過這女郎;
Silently she goes further and further, to the crumbling wall,
她靜默地遠了，遠了，到了頹廢的籬墻，
Out of the lane in the rain.
走進這雨巷。
In the mournful melody of the rain,
在雨的哀曲中，
Her color has faded,
消了她的顏色，
Her fragrance has disappeared,
散了她的芬芳，
Vanished into the void;
消散了;
Even her glance like a sigh,
甚至她的太息般的眼光，
Melancholy like lilacs.
丁香般的惆悵。
