一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)(Simple Present Tense)一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)也譯為單純現(xiàn)在時(shí)。

例A：I study very hard and Tom studies very hard, too.

(我很用功，湯姆也很用功。)

例B：The teacher is not in the classroom and the students are very noisy.

(老師不在教室，學(xué)生都很吵鬧。)

解說 如例所示主語為第三人稱單數(shù)時(shí)，一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)的動詞必須使用第三人稱單數(shù)形式，其他則除“be”以外都使用原形動詞(Root Verb)。

一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)的用法如下：

解說 文法上一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)所指的“現(xiàn)在(at the time of speaking)”其實(shí)其觀念并非是絕對的。這里所指的現(xiàn)在是在表明說話時(shí)存在著的事物，其時(shí)間領(lǐng)域含蓋著過去，也將延伸及將來。例如：

It is very hot today.

(今天天氣很熱。──如說話時(shí)間是在中午，本句話是在表明說話時(shí)“天氣很熱”，實(shí)際上“天氣熱”的現(xiàn)象在中午之前就已開始存在，同時(shí)也將延伸到下午。)

Dogs bark at strangers.

(狗看到陌生人就會吠。──這句話是在談狗的習(xí)性，說話時(shí)不一定有狗正在吠，而狗的這種習(xí)性可以追溯及遠(yuǎn)古，當(dāng)然也將延伸到將來。)

因此，一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)所指的“現(xiàn)在”可以圖示如下：

一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)常可作用如“today，this + time (this week, this year, …)，now，right now，at present，etc.”時(shí)間副詞來修飾。
