1. 兩者都可表示“遠(yuǎn)”，但 far 屬常用詞，而 distant 則通常用于表示相當(dāng)遠(yuǎn)的距離。如：

How far did you drive today? 今天你開車開了多遠(yuǎn)?

She lives in a distant town. 她住在一個(gè)遙遠(yuǎn)的城鎮(zhèn)里。

The moon is distant from the earth. 月亮離地球很遠(yuǎn)。

表示一般的遠(yuǎn)距離，通常不用 distant。如：

一般不說：My house is distant from the school.

最好說成：My house is a long way from the school.

2. 與數(shù)字連用時(shí)，distant 不管遠(yuǎn)近都可以用;而 far 則根本不與數(shù)字連用。如：

車站離我家 5 英里。

誤：The station is five miles far (away) from my home.

正：The station is five miles distant from my home.

正：The station is five miles away from my home.
