1、for the love of God
An oath of shock, exasperation, annoyance, frustration, or anger.
一種咒罵,出于震驚、惱怒、煩惱、挫折或憤怒。“看在上帝的份上”,是不是很熟悉(????? ??),譯制片里常常能聽到哦!
e.g. For the love of God, I didn’t even see that car coming!
我的老天,我壓根兒沒看到那輛車來了!
e.g. Would you let me finish my story, for the love of God?
你能讓我完成我的報道嗎,看在上帝的份上?
e.g. Oh for the love of God, I just had the car fixed and now you’ve put a dent in it!
哦看在上帝的份上,我才把車修好,而現在你就在上面撞了一個坑!
2、love me, love my dog
If you love someone, you should accept everything and everyone that the person loves.
如果你愛一個人,你就要接受那個人所愛的所有事物和所有人。也就是我們說的“愛屋及烏”啦~
A: I wish you’d keep your dog out of the house when I come over.
A:我希望在我過來的時候你能把你的狗放在屋子外。
B: Love me, love my dog.
B:愛我,就要愛我的狗。(愛屋及烏)
e.g. Most of Alice’s friends didn’t like her sister, but they accepted her because Alice insisted, "Love me, love my dog.”
Alice的朋友大部分都不喜歡她的妹妹,但是因為Alice堅持“愛屋及烏”,所以他們都接受了她。
3、love begets love
If you behave lovingly to other people, they will behave lovingly to you.
如果你親切地對待他人,他們也會親切地對待你。“投桃報李”
Child: I hate Tammy! She’s always mean to me.
孩子:我討厭Tammy!她總是對我很不好。
Father: If you’re nicer to her, maybe she’ll change her ways. Love begets love.

4、tough love
a method of helping someone to change their behaviour by treating them in a very severe way

e.g. Learning from mistakes in Egypt, it should use tough love to encourage better governance.

5、lord love a duck!
My goodness! (An exclamation of surprise.)
我的天哪!(驚訝的感嘆)
e.g. Lord love a duck! How that rain is coming down!
我的天哪!怎么就下雨了!
e.g. Lord love a duck! Did you see that cat chasing that dog?
我的天哪!你看到那只貓在追那條狗了嗎!
6、for love or money
Under any circumstances. Usually used in negative sentences
在任何情況下。通常用在消極的句子里。“出于愛或金錢”
e.g. I would not do that for love or money.
無論怎樣我都不會這樣做的。
7、love-hate relationship
a relationship of any kind that involves both devotion and hatred.
任何一種同時包含奉獻和憎恨的關系。“愛恨交加的關系”
e.g. Since then, I have a love-hate relationship with her.
那從以后,我對她愛恨交加。
e.g. Most people admit to having a love-hate relationship with the TV.

8、head over heels in love (with someone)
very much in love with someone.
對一個人有很深沉的愛。“沉溺于愛河之中”

John深深愛著Mary。
e.g. They are head over heels in love with each other.

9、love-tooth in the head
A constant need or yearning for love.
對愛的持續需要或渴望
A: "Stacey always seems to have a boyfriend.”
A:“Stacey似乎總是有男朋友。”
B: "I know, she really has a love-tooth in the head!"

10、puppy love
mild infatuation; infatuation as in a crush. (Used especially of adolescent relationships.)
輕微的迷戀;一時沖動的迷戀。(特別是用來形容青春期的關系。)
e.g. Is it really love or just puppy love?
那是真愛還是只是一時的沖動?
e.g. Look at them together. It may be puppy love, but it looks wonderful.
