三維城市地質信息綜合管理與服務系統將為城市規劃和發展提供地質技術支持。這一系統將推廣到全國100多個城市。

在上面的報道中，3D urban geology information system指的是“三維城市地質信息管理與服務系統”。這一系統目前已經率先在北京、上海等六個城市建立。這幾個城市都有各自的地質問題，如subsidence(地面塌陷)、groundwater(地下水)等問題。自從這一系統建立后，上海在curbing subsidence(遏制地面塌陷)方面已經取得了突破性成就。
