Daniel: Wow, the view from the peak is so grand!
Dad: Look, most of the maple leaves have turned red.
Daniel: Did you ever see this kind of beautiful scene?
Dad: Of course, my father used to take me to Xiang Shan or somewhere like that as a child.
Daniel: But my father did not. He didn’t have much time.
Dad: Honey, I’m sorry. I promise you, this summer vacation, I will take you to Huang-Shan

“My father used to take me to Xiang Shan or somewhere like that as a child”中出現的語法現象
為一般過去時。
1.一般過去時主要表示
(1)在過去的時間里所發生的動作或存在的狀態
時間狀語有：yesterday, last week, an hour ago, the other day, in 1949 等
I bought it yesterday. 我昨天買的。
Where did you go last night? 你昨天晚上去哪里了?
(2)在過去一段時間內，經常或習慣性的動作
When I was a child, I often played football in the street. 我小時候常在街道里踢足球。
(3)在常用口語句型It is time sb. did sth. (早該……了)中用過去時
It is time you went to bed. 你早該睡覺了。
2. 一般過去時的構成
(1)規則動詞過去式，一般在動詞原形末尾直接加上-ed
look-looked play-played
(2)以不發音的字母e結尾的動詞，去掉末尾e再加-ed
live-lived love-loved
(3)末尾只有一個輔音字母的重讀閉音節，先雙寫這個輔音字母，再加-ed

(4)末尾是輔音字母+y結尾的動詞，先變y為I,然后再加-ed
