沒有人生來就毫無缺陷，這些缺陷體現在身體上或精神上，而大部分人認為這些缺陷很容易改正，因而也就長時間的放任自流。

The keenness of others often regrets to see a slight defect attaching itself to a whole assembly of elevated qualities, and yet a single cloud can hide the whole of the sun. There are likewise patches on our reputation which ill-will soon finds out and is continually noticing.

對他們真正關心的人看到這些人雖然具備很多美好的品格，卻因白壁有瑕而光芒減半，無不感到惋惜。一片烏云足以蔽日，如果不加改正，心懷惡意的人很快便會發現這些缺陷，并保持持續的關注，以期有利可圖。
