這首歌的曲子Paul大概15歲的時候就有了，那個時候還有了Vera Chuck & Dave那幾行歌詞。 Paul是在自己家里的鋼琴上創作的，他認為曲子的風格類似那種在酒店里的歌舞表演。 很多年以后，Paul才把詞給添上。 當時正逢他爸爸Jim的64歲生日。 年輕的Paul當時說，他不能想象自己也會變得這么老。但幾年前，Paul也64歲了……
愛情不是牧歌，不是在茫茫塵世牧放無窮憂傷和回憶的牧歌。愛情不是挽歌，不是憑吊連同青春一起死去的愛情的挽歌。愛情，是一首開始時只是無字的歌，而隨著歲月的逝去，相愛的人漸漸老去，就會唱出詞的歌。是下面這首歌。它等我們六十四歲的時候，來一起合唱。
