英語中的數詞，形態萬千，要真正掌握還真不是件容易的事。接著上一篇，學習一下數詞在數學方面的運用。
一、表示編號
1. 單純的表示編號，可在數字(用基數詞表示)前加number，簡寫為No.。
如： No.1 No.65
2.用“名詞+基數詞”，“the +序數詞+名詞”，表示順序意義。
如: Bus No.65 Room305

二、表示倍數
1. 倍數+as +形容詞/副詞(原級)+ as。
兩倍：twice 兩倍以上：基數詞+times
如：The classroom is twice as big as that one.這間教室是那間教室的兩倍大。
He ate three times as many bananas as Mary.他吃的香蕉是瑪麗吃的三倍。
2. 倍數+形容詞或副詞的比較級+than。
如：This lion is four times bigger than that one. 這頭獅子是那頭獅子的四倍大。
3. 倍數+ the size/length/weight/width/height…+of+表示比較對象的名詞。
如：This river is six times the depth of that one. 這條河是那條河的六倍深。
4. 倍數+what引導的從句。
如：The length of the road is four times what it was three years ago. 這條路的長度是三年前的 4 倍。
三、表示約數
1. 用”dozens/scores/hundreds/thousands/millions+of”表示“幾十、幾百、上千、成千上萬”等。
如：This mother bought dozens of eggs.那個媽媽買了幾十個雞蛋。
Thousands of people died in the earthquake.數以千計的人死于地震。
注意：
(A)dozen, score, hundred, thousand, million前面有數字時，表示實數意義，詞尾不加s;如果詞尾+s且+of+名詞，為虛數。
如：three hundred people 三百個人 hundreds of people 數以百計的人
He ordered a dozen of their best red roses.他訂購了12朵他們那兒最好的紅玫瑰。
Bol says dozens of her relatives died in the violence.波爾說，她的親屬數十人死于暴力。
但score用法略有不同，與數詞連用時，也加of。
如：two score of eggs (40個蛋)。
(B)但是，有時候我們會遇到單數形式的dozen, score, hundred, million等前面有數詞，后面也有of，這個時候，of表示的是部分與整體的關系，后面一定跟著them, us等人稱代詞或者the, these, your等的限定詞。
如：I want to buy three dozen of the eggs. (我想買其中的三打蛋。)
2. 用more than, beyond, or more, over, above 等來表示超過或多于某個數目。
用less than, under, below, almost, nearly, up to 等來表示小于或接近某數目。
如：nearly two hours 將近兩個小時
more than 100 years 一百多年
under thirty years of age 小于三十歲
3. 用 about, around, some 等表示在某一數目左右。
如：about 50 pens大約五十支鋼筆
四、表示分數
1. 遇到分數時，分數的分子用基數詞表示，分母用序數詞表示。
(當分子大于一時，分母的序數詞要用復數。)
2. 分子與分母之間加in, 分子在前，分母在后，分子分母都用基數詞。
如：one in ten 十分之一，five in eight八分之五。
3. 分子與分母之間加out of , 分子在前，分母在后，分子分母都用基數詞。
如：five out of seven 七分之五 three out of ten 十分之三
五、表示百分數
在表達百分數時，用“基數詞(或者小數)+percent(%)”percent用單數形式。
5% five percent 0.7% zero point seven percent
25% twenty-five percent 100% one hundred percent
注：如果想表達幾分之幾或百分之幾十的人或物時，加of，作主語時，謂語動詞的數與of后的名詞數一致。
如：Twenty percent of the students are girls.百分之二十的學生是女孩。
Two-thirds of the money was spent on food.三分之二的錢都花在食物上。
六、表示小數
小數點前的數按基數詞的讀法讀，小數點以后的數按一個一個的數字讀，小數點用point。
如：0.7 zero(或nought)point seven
0.003 zero(或nought)point zero zero three
98.537 ninety-eight point five three seven
