Mall就是購(gòu)物中心，rat就是老鼠。Mall rat當(dāng)然并非真的指一種老鼠，它是指年輕人像老鼠那樣在mall里鉆來(lái)鉆去。

一到周末，許多年輕人都會(huì)去mall買(mǎi)東西。有的人也不見(jiàn)得想買(mǎi)什么，他們只是愿意呆在商場(chǎng)消磨時(shí)間。人們把經(jīng)常到mall去逛的年輕人叫做：mall rat。它是一個(gè)俚語(yǔ)用法，指的是 a young person who loiters about shopping malls，即指那些老喜歡到購(gòu)物中心去逛的年輕人。
