◆miss v.

1. 表示“錯過”、“未做到”、“幸免于”，其后可接名詞或動名詞(但不能接不定式)。如：

He just missed being run over by a truck. 他差點兒被一輛卡車壓了。

We only missed (seeing) each other by five minutes. 我們只因差五分鐘而未能見面。

不說：He just missed to be run over by a truck.

2. 表示“丟失”，通常用其現在分詞(轉化為形容詞)作表語或定語。如：

The book has two missing pages [two pages missing]. 這本書缺兩頁。

The child has been missing for a week. 這孩子下落不明已有一周了。

注：不能用過去分詞轉化來的形容詞。如：

誤：The child has been missed for a week.

◆mistake n. & v.

1. 表示“錯誤”，通常為可數名詞；表示犯錯誤，通常用動詞 make；另外注意與介詞常用搭配。如：

You made a mistake about the time. 你弄錯了時間。

She made a mistake over the bill. 她把賬算錯了。

Don’t make any mistake about me. 不要誤解我的意思。

注：用于 by mistake, 意為“錯誤地”、“弄錯地”。如：

The nurse gave me the wrong medicine by mistake. 護士給我吃錯了藥。

2. 用作動詞，表示“把……誤認為是……”，一般用介詞 for。如：

We mistook her for her sister. 我們把她錯當作她姐姐。

She mistook a rope for a snake. 她把一條繩子誤認為蛇。

◆mistaken adj.

1. 表示某人的誤會、誤解或弄錯等，通常用作表語。如：

You’re mistaken (about it). (這事)你完全錯了。

You’re mistaken about him. 你錯看他了(誤會他了)。

You are mistaken in thinking that they will help you. 你要是認為他們會幫助你，那你就錯了。

2. 表示錯誤的行為、想法或犯錯誤的人等，多用作定語。如：

That’s a mistaken idea. 那是個錯誤的想法。

A mistaken person should admit his error. 一個犯錯誤的人應該要承認錯誤。

◆money n.

1. 表示“錢”，是不可數名詞。如：

Can you lend me some money? 你能借些錢給我嗎?

Money makes the mare (to) go. 有錢能使鬼推磨。

2. 漢語說“零錢”，英語用 small money 或 (small) change表示，也是不可數名詞。另外，不要按中文意思直譯以下各表達：make money(掙錢，發財)，ready money(現錢)，public money(公款)，dear money(高利貸款)，drink money(賞錢)，easy money(容易賺來的錢)

◆month n.

1. 英語中表示“月份”的名詞如下：January(一月)，February

(二月)，March(三月)，April(四月)，May(五月)，June( 六月 )，July(七月)，August(八月)，September(九月)，October(十月 )，November(十一月)，December(十二月)

2. 月份詞之前一般不用冠詞，但若特指，可加定冠詞，若表示某一個或有形容詞修飾，可用不定冠詞。如：

He died in March 1989. /He died in the March of 1989. 他于1989年3月去世。

It happened in a cold December. 這事發生在一個寒冬臘月。

3. 表示在某月，用介詞 in；具體表示某月幾日，用介詞 on。如： He was born in September, 1988. 他生于1988年9月。

He arrived here on October 23. 他于10月23日到達這兒。

4. 月份名詞與星期名詞并列時，通常要先說星期后說月份。如：

The meeting was held on Wednesday, March 16. 會議于3月16日(星期三)召開。
