“高姐”整裝待命：高鐵線路上的乘務員都是從無數應聘者中海選出來的，而且已經經過了嚴格訓練。

文中的high-speed train attendant就是指“高姐”，也就是高鐵上的女性乘務員。High-speed train/rail也就是“高速鐵路”(高鐵)。京滬高鐵已于六月底開通，此前經過了一段時間的trial operation/run (試運行)。為了更加親民，京滬高鐵拆除了部分luxury train seats(豪華座)，增加了standard seat(普通座)，可以滿足不同人群的需要。

Train attendant就是火車上的“列車員、乘務員”。飛機上的“空姐、空乘人員”就是flight attendant。高鐵的時速比bullet train(動車)更快，開通后一直實行的real-name purchasing system (實名制購票)。
