現在分詞和不定詞皆可作賓語補語

一般說來, 現在分詞表示動作過程的一部分,即動作在進行; 不定詞表示動作全部過程的結束,即動作發生了。

I saw the burglar steal into the bank at night……

我看見盜賊夜晚溜進了銀行。

I saw the burglar stealing into the bank when I was watching the stars at night.

當我在夜晚觀賞星星的時候我看見盜賊正偷偷溜進銀行。

不定詞作賓語補語表示一次性動作, 現在分詞作賓語補語表示動作在反覆進行。

I felt my head bump against something.

我感覺到我的頭撞上了什么東西。

I felt the earth shaking.

我感覺到地在晃動。

不定詞作賓語補語表示動作發生的事實, 現在分詞作賓語補語用以描繪情景。

I wanted to watch the sun rising above the sea level.

我想看見太陽在海平面上升起。

I watched the sun rise yesterday.

我昨天看到了日出。

在沒有必要區分賓語補語的動作是在進行還是一次的時候,二者皆可用,意思相同。

I saw a lot of people come in and go out of his house.

I saw a lot of people coming in and going out of his house.

我看見很多人在他家進進出出。
