The year’s at the spring

And day’s at the morn;

Morning’s at seven;

The hill-side’s dew-pearled;

The lark’s on the wing;

The snail’s on the thorn:

God’s in his Heaven --

All’s right with the world!

正值一年之春，

又逢一日之晨;

晨光走到了七點(diǎn);

山腰掛著露珠;

云雀展翅高飛;

蝸牛爬上了荊棘:

上帝在自己的天堂里——

塵世間一派井然!

原詩(shī)每行兩音步(dimeter)。第一、二、五、六行中，第一音步為輕重格(iambic)，第二音步為輕輕重格(anapestic);第三、第七行中，第一音步為重輕輕格(dactylic)，第二音步為重輕格(trochaic);第四、第八行格律有所松動(dòng)。值得注意的是末行第一音步(All’s right)為重重格(spondaic)，于語(yǔ)義有所強(qiáng)化。全詩(shī)的韻腳安排為abcd abcd. 譯詩(shī)每行三頓，但未能押尾韻。網(wǎng)上有譯者將起首兩行徑自譯為“一年之季在于春，一日之際在于晨”，雖整飭易誦，實(shí)與原詩(shī)句法、語(yǔ)氣不符。(倒數(shù)第二行由“上帝在他的天堂里”改譯為“上帝在自己的天堂里”，因?yàn)榇诵兄械腶nnunciatory “his”應(yīng)得到強(qiáng)調(diào)。07.5.16)
