One Art

伊麗莎白·畢曉普(Elizabeth·Bishop,1911-1979年)，美國詩人。她的詩作想象力豐富、細(xì)膩準(zhǔn)確、韻律悠長別致。1946年，發(fā)表第一部詩集《北與南》，獲得好評。詩歌合集《詩歌：北與南——一個(gè)寒冷的冬天》(Poems: North and South—A Cold Spring)(1955年)獲1956年普利策詩歌獎(jiǎng)。

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;

so many things seem filled with the intent

to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster

of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:

places, and names, and where it was you meant

to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or

next-to-last, of three loved houses went.

她出身殷富人家，從小失去父母的關(guān)愛，患有嚴(yán)重的哮喘病，一生在流浪和漫游中度過，先后在六座風(fēng)格迥異的城市居住。畢曉普的詩歌以夢幻般的敏捷和復(fù)雜的想象力著稱，注重精確的觀察和細(xì)節(jié)描寫。

畢曉普出生在馬薩諸塞州的伍斯特。1934年從瓦薩女子學(xué)院畢業(yè)，之后在歐洲和北非四處游歷。1952年定居巴西。1970年回到美國，在哈佛大學(xué)教過幾年寫作。

她其它作品包括：詩集——《旅行的問題》(1966年)、《詩全集》(1969年)、《地理學(xué)三》(1977)年)。《巴西》(1967年)是一部旅行見聞集。
